Mostly Organized Dispatch
Hello and Happy Thursday!
As we slowly say goodbye to summer and welcome fall, I’m looking back at the last couple of months and seeing all the organizing days I’ve had.
I’ve done more decluttering in the last 2 months than I have done in a while, and it fills me with joy to have had the opportunity to work on these projects, so I wanted to tell you a little bit about each of them.
First up, my own clutter. If you read my last dispatch, you probably guessed that decluttering and organizing my own life wasn't on the priority list last year. But we’ve been slowly chipping at stuff over here. Between leftover renovation materials and phases of life or projects that are either done or no longer inspiring us, we got rid of two truckloads of stuff (yes, you read that right—one for the dump and one for the Eco-Station). And THAT felt so good.
There have been organizing sessions with virtual and in-person clients, working on a variety of topics, from life admin clutter to looking at storage spaces that have accumulated stuff over the years, and a few days doing home clearouts with other organizers.
And finally, I recently helped a friend declutter before a move and unpack into his new place. We spent two 3-hour sessions decluttering and getting rid of items he didn’t want to move into his new space, and one 4-hour session emptying boxes and organizing things to be functional—my absolute favourite (if you’re moving soon, see my tips below)!
All that to say, the work is never the same. It requires me to connect with my clients on a personal level, make sure the solutions or methods I suggest fit their needs and way of living, and I absolutely love that about Professional Organizing.
If you’re reading this newsletter, have never worked with me, and you’re curious about the process, you can find some details here and here.
Until next time,
Caroline

Tips From A Pro Organizer
🔆 TIP | Decluttering Tip From A Professional Organizer: Declutter Before You Pack
I know this one is going to seem obvious, but it has to be said that it’s better to declutter the parts of your life that you would rather not bring into your next chapter, BEFORE you even start packing. Many people do it as they’re packing, but I think that’s a mistake.
Inevitably, there's a point in packing when time is running out, and we start shoving stuff into bins and boxes. Start decluttering months before you pack, so you have time.
📌 HABIT | Small Habit To Help You Get Organized: Pack and “Open First“ Box
I read that somewhere years ago and never forgot it. Keep your essentials in a box or a couple of boxes that you will move yourself and open first.
These boxes will include: your kettle and coffee maker, a set of dinnerware, glassware and cutlery per person, medication, a couple of rolls of toilet paper and cleaning supplies. Once you get to your new place, you won’t have to dig through 27 boxes to find what you need right away.
🧩 MINDSET | Clear Your Mind and Get a New Perspective: Use Your Move as a Fresh Start
This is a new phase of life; maybe it’s also time to ditch certain habits or get into new ones. Sometimes, a simple change of space finally gets you motivated to (re)start some habits: walking after dinner (instead of scrolling on your phone), getting up an hour early to savour the morning and do some stretches, or finally setting up a space to craft; whatever it is, go for it!
