Slowing Down To Enjoy Life

Mostly Organized Dispatch

How is your nervous system lately, Caroline?

Mine seems to have finally come down, a year after my event (if you don’t know, or you’re new, I have a day job managing an event on a 3-year cycle).

I’ve noticed this pattern before. The first 6 months after the Games, I’m somewhat functional, but also exhausted. Over the next 6 months, my nervous system slowly comes down from high alert, getting me to where I am now.

I’ll be on this vibe until the end of the year, before things start to ramp up slowly, culminating in being hectic AF for the last bit. And then we start over again.

Isn’t that wild? A whole year to feel like a somewhat calm human being, able to deal with the things life throws at you?!?

Maybe you’re in the same situation, where you’ve been coming down from a busy season. Or maybe you’re trying to ignore the back-to-school vibe that has you stressed out. Regardless, summer is not over yet, so let’s all try to be present and enjoy every last drop of it.

Because sometimes, you gotta slow down to find some joy, and I have a few suggestions for you below.

Wishing you a dazzling summer’s end,

Caroline

Tips From A Pro Organizer

🔆 TIP | Decluttering Tip From A Professional Organizer: Declutter Your Mind

We don’t often think about how much stuff is floating around in our brains. Those ideas, to-dos, and various reminders that keep pinging silently (or not so silently) in our minds also need decluttering sometimes.

📌 HABIT | Small Habit To Help You Get Organized: Lessons From a Sabbatical

My whole thing is about organizing your life to make it simpler. I live on planning ahead and lists, and sometimes I think I can control everything. But when plans leave little room for disruptions, distractions, rest, and play, it’s easy to feel like you’re constantly rushing.

If it’s not already part of your planning process, I’m telling you, taking breaks has to be part of the plan.

🧩 MINDSET | Clear Your Mind And Get a New Perspective: Slow Down

I love camping because oftentimes, there is no cell service, and for some reason, that helps me slow down.

But it’s not the only trick I have in my hat!
