Remodelling takes time, or at least it’s taking us a long time. And so our rule is we won’t redo stuff that’s already been done, just because we suddenly don’t like it anymore; unless of course it’s broken or falling apart or something. Our list of “unfinished projects“ is still way too long to redo much of anything. But we had to do some repairs in our main living area, and that gave us the opportunity to revamp our colours.

An interior designer had suggested the original colours a few years back (rusty orange and powder blue). At first, I liked them enough, but I got tired really quickly of the orange: too dark, too common and not the look I felt we wanted to achieve.

Here is what it looked like at first.

I knew I wanted grey instead of the orange and I’ve been having an obsession with peacock colours for quite some time. I tried to select more subdued blues, but I kept coming back to a vibrant, yet calming blue/green emerald palette.

Since it’s only paint after all, we decided to settle on Pompeian Blue and Hailstorm Grey by Sico and I’m in love.

The new colours have a Mid-Century Modern meet Art Deco feel and I’m here for it.
